LitigeX allows you to access one data base at a time. It is selected by
pressing "O" at the MAIN MENU and then entering the data base's name. If the
data base is a new one, LitigeX will let you copy the index of abbreviations
from any other data base on the disk to the new file. Copying an index from
an established data base may make data entry in the new one a little faster,
since the lack of an established index will force you to develop one "on the
fly" as you enter data. To view a listing of descriptions for the files
already established on the hard disk, press ^V when you're asked for a file
name. To CHANGE a file description or the designations of it's two extra
miscellaneous fields, type the name of the file and then press ^O, instead of
the RET key.
To add a record to the data base, press "M". To edit a record, press "E".
To hunt through the data base for some particular information and prepare a
report, press "H".
Text files in the "DB" (data base) subdirectory may be scanned if you press
"S". This is useful if you wish to enter verbatim text from a disk-based doc-
ument into the data base. If your court reporter supplies you with depositions
on disk, this feature can be particularly useful. Note, however, that the scan
mode works only with industry-standard ASCII files.
Anytime you need help while using LitigeX, just press ALT-F1.
